You don't get "insta accepted" you get accepted to go on to step 2. So yea you do have to do the interview.

Still a bit confused, do we need 20 posts in order to become a member? I see people getting accepted from part 1 (including me) when they have less than 20 posts

The 20 post rule was only recently added for new applicants
